Carry-All Bag

This handy pouch can double as a laundry bag or a safe place to stash delicates when traveling. Or fill it with knitting supplies — needles and yarn fit neatly inside.

Step 1: Line up two bandannas with the right sides facing in.

Step 2: Sew together along bottom and sides, leaving 3 inches open on one side for drawstring casing.

Step 3: Fold over casing and stitch at bottom edge (the hem should be roughly 1 1/2 inches).

Step 4: Use a closed safety pin to help thread the ribbon through the casing.

Step 5: Turn the finished bag right side out.

Floral Tote

For a simple tote, cut about 10 yard-long strips of floral fabric in varying widths. Sew the strips together to make one large piece of fabric. Fold "fabric" in half, trim to desired shape, stitch sides and hem top, then finish with a large vintage button and a premade wicker handle from a crafts store.

Crafts Organizer Tote

This portable crafts organizer starts with an inexpensive tote bag. Or opt to cover cardboard with floral fabric. Stitch four same-size pockets of different patterns onto the tote or fabric. If you are covering cardboard, attach fabric to board with a glue gun. Attach fabric-strip handle and hang.

Lace Doily Handbag

Make it any size! For the lining, cut two fabric circles, about 3/4 inch smaller than the two doilies. Right sides together, sew together the lining pieces, leaving an opening at the top; turn right side out. Sandwich lining between doilies and topstitch through all layers (lining included), leaving an opening at the top. From a runner, cut a wide handle, folding it lengthwise in thirds. Machine-stitch down its length. At the lining's opening, turn under the raw edges; stitch the ends of the handle inside.
